Good team dynamics will improve the productivity of the team, get the best performance on each individual member, while a bad one could cause conflicts, and prevent the team from achieving the goal of the project.

What are characteristics of good team dynamics?

These are some of the main point:

  • Shared Purpose
Having the same goal is a must in team dynamics. A group of people will have an easier time if the goal of their task contributes to the same goal. If there are some problems with the team’s decision, you should check whether they have the same goal in mind.

  • Trust and Openness
Building a trust in the team will lead to more ideas and creativity. Openness will improve the team vibe positively as they will feel safer to share information and ideas without fear of embarrassment or even punishment. Building trust as a leader can be by simply respecting the whole team or even showing your technical skills to them.
  • Willingness to Correct Mistakes
When success is a product of a result, a mistake that happened in the past won’t even be noticed, teams should establish evaluation on the current product that tracks the work. If the work is off-track from the main goal, teams should be willing to change or adjust the mistakes made.

  • Diversity and Inclusion
Diversity leads to more creativity, as different ideas will be more choices for innovative or creative solutions for your team’s problem. If your team is experiencing groupthink there will be no creative ideas, encourage diversity on the team as more ideas will be better than only one idea.
  • Sense of Belonging
Each team member should understand their own value on the team, having known why they are in the team will make them know what their responsibility is individually. a team will be more productive if each member is proud of their own work to achieve the main goal.
  • Consensus Decision Making
Decision making in a group is hard, there are many points of view, ideas laying around that can possibly be the best solution for your team. That is why consensus requires you as a team to have the right processes. Avoid making group decisions only by peer pressure, if there is still conflict after the decision created members will have to compromise with it.

  • Participative Leadership
Participative leaders step back and give room for the employees to work autonomously. They give resources, guidance, and information and do not undermine the employees confidence.

That is all from me,
